10-page PDF

It can be surprisingly difficult to relax into unschooling, and most parents find that they have a lot of assumptions and beliefs to unravel before they can really start to trust the process and trust their children.

This deschooling journey naturally takes some time, but by bringing our intentionality and curiosity to it, we can make it far more enjoyable and unravel it all a little more quickly. I’ve put together these 20 ideas to help you on your way. There's no need to work through them in any particular order. Just see what resonates and start from there.

It can feel extremely challenging when you have a child who is easily dysregulated and/or becomes aggressive. And, although it may feel like we need our child to change, in fact there is lots that we ourselves can do in order to help our child build their capacity to deal with big emotions. So much of this lies in our ability to stay compassionate and connected with our child even in the tough times.

This is not easy and takes both practice and lots of self-compassion. This guide contains eight simple, mindfulness-based techniques that will help you respond more calmly and support your connection with your child, whilst also taking care of yourself.

Freedom in the Pause
Six-minute guided meditation - MP3

One of the most important skills we can bring to our deschooling is the ability to notice when we are triggered by something and to take a pause. Just this simple act of pausing can steer us away from old reactive patterns, and open up a new space, where we have a wider perspective and more capacity to respond in a way that is helpful and loving.

This 6-minute guided meditation helps you move from through the triggered moments by leaning in to them, bringing in self-compassion, and getting curious. You can use it during difficult moments, or as a reflective practice once the moment has passed. Notice how your perspective shifts when you take the time to be with the difficult moments.
